Spring Concert of Dance - April 17-20, 2008 Southwest Michigan’s premier modern dance company takes the stage to close their 28th season. Wellspring/Cori Terry & Dancers presents Spring Concert of Dance featuring new choreography by Cori Terry, favorites from the repertoire and a restaging of Erick Hawkins' masterpiece Classic Kite Tails. Artistic Director Cori Terry will premiere her latest work, "At This Very Moment Breakin", set to the music of Academy Award-winning Argentine musician Gustavo Santaolalla. The company will also perform repertoire pieces Alvin (2004), Crossing (2001) and Counter Offer (2007). The program closes with Classic Kite Tails (1972), choreographed by moden dance pioneer Erick Hawkins. Ms. Terry, who studied with Erick and danced in his company in New York, will revive this beautiful work for the Spring Concert of Dance. Wellspring will again present Classic Kite Tails as a work-of-art to be studied during the Lincoln Center Institute's National Educator Workshops being held in Kalamazoo this summer. As part of Erick Hawkin's' Dance Company, Ms. Terry performed in "Classic Kite Tails" at Carnegie Hall (NYC) in 1975. 33 years later, Cori Terry will have her own company (with guest apprentice dance Michael McDonald) perform this historical gem. "This is another opportunity for me to appreciate the classic modern dance that 'Classic Kite Tails' is," Ms. Terry states after company rehearsal. This is the third time Wellspring/Cori Terry & Dancers will perform "Classic Kite Tails". Performances will be presented at the Wellspring Theater at the Epic Center. Concerts will begin at 8 pm on Thursday-Saturday and at 2 pm on Sunday. Tickets are on sale now. Prices are $20 for adults, $10 for students and free for children ages 5 and younger.
