Fall Concert of Dance
November 8-10 & 16-17 (8 pm) and November 18 (2 pm)
Wellspring Theater at the Epic Center

This season’s Fall Concert of Dance on November 8-10 & 16-18 will be filled with energetic, creative works which will eminently portray the company's ingenuity. The evidence lies in returning pieces such as Half a World Away and Rippledeffect, featuring a powerful duet with Michael Miller and Rachel Miller. New works choreographed by Artistic Director Cori Terry and Artistic Associate Michael Miller are sure to boast of Wellspring’s talent.

Premiering at the Fall Concert of Dance, is a piece choreographed by Cori Terry, with a musical score by David Lang. It will be performed by five dancers from the company. They will grace the stage in this exciting new work which was commissioned by Grand Valley State University’s New Music Ensemble. After the close of the Fall Concert of Dance, Wellspring will then tour to GVSU with the piece to perform it with the New Music Ensemble on November 29, 2007.

Michael Miller will also showcase new choreography in the Fall Concert. Three female soloists embody the piece. Moving through the phases which encompass a woman’s life, the dancers portray different individual aspects surrounding the highs and lows of womanhood.

Scheduled for revival are two favorites from last season. Cori Terry’s, Half a World Away, an intriguing piece emulating a society estranged by a wall, will be danced once again. It is a “moving piece about world dissonance” Cori Terry explains. It is sententious and provoking. Michael Miller’s Rapid Assembly also makes its return. This Bill Ryan post minimalist piece was performed last Spring with Opus 21 and received glowing reviews.

Last season, Wellspring performed to sold-out audiences. Be sure to get your tickets early for the Fall Concert of Dance!
